VAN helen
MONDAAAAAAAAAAAY! Some of you I’m sure cringe when you hear the word…am I right? Just think, Monday blog post people! Well, that and coffee…and I can feel the cheer already. You know what else is cheery? Shooting a rad wedding in San Fran in the rain, and spending some time with one of my besties. Yep, that’s what Rico and I did this last weekend. We jumped up to San Fran for the wedding of Lydia and Tommy, then hung out with our lovely friend Carleigh all day yesterday and flew back to San Diego around midnight to have a slumber party at my pop’s house (our house is getting tented, so we’re living out of our car…pesky termites).
Soooo, enough about us and our little house guests (may they rest in peace). On to the good stuff that is Helen and Van. I have been wanting to share them with you for a while now, but you know how it is, busy busy busy wedding season means blog laggage, my apologies. Better late than never though right? So today we have a dual shoot post of Helen and Van. The first part is their engagement session, and the second is their bridal shoot which we shot a couple weeks before the wedding. We enjoyed spending time with them in Huntington and Laguna beach running around the beach, hiking in the mountains, hanging by the lake, we covered a lot of ground with these two! Was it worth it? Most definitely. As always, the pictures speak for themselves so I leave with you Helen and Van and all their adorableness…..

this is CHARLOTTE king
Well hi there my Friday friends! Oh boy, have I got a treat for you or WHAT? Today I don’t have any stills to show you but I have a film instead. Yep, taking a small step off the path of our normal photography posts to show you something that we are pretty excited about. We have these two amazing clients, Jeff and Melissa, who we met when they hired us to shoot their wedding last July and who we’ve remained friends ever since. Jeff is an independent filmmaker here in San Diego and since Rico has a knack for the camera, he’s helped him out on a few of his projects. One of those projects was a short film they made here in San Diego called “This is Charlotte King.” Jeff was the man behind the movie and Rico helped with the filming along with our favorite friend Tom. That film was entered in the San Diego Film Festival and ended up winning Best San Diego Film. So I’m making today bragging Friday, hmmm…bragging sounds bad, how about proud that my clients and my husband AND my fave wedding videographer all created a RAD film that won a doubly rad award Friday. Yes, that’s what we will call today. And you know what else? You should watch it. Why? Because it’s the best San Diego Film, that’s why! Well, and Rico helped film it and we all know how much we love Rico and his ability to film in a hot air balloon. SO with that, I leave you Charlotte King……

DAVID holly
Who is in need of something awesome today? ME! Yes, that would be me. It’s a slow Monday for me because I’m fighting a migraine. I DID however, have an awesome weekend which started with the Jonsi concert (SO.AMAZING), followed by a successful wedding, then a day off yesterday (thank you rain!). So for today’s awesome I have for you the lovely, adorable, NICEST couple EVER to share with you. Their names are Holly and David and they were married at Craven Farms just outside of Seattle. Rico and I, along with the Aqua Vivus team headed up there in August to shoot the wedding of this lovely photographer and her adorable husband, and let me tell you, I was in heaven. This crafty bride is a photographer herself so we just “got” each other, except for the crafty part, I’m not crafty at all so when she told me she MADE her own bouquet, and boutonnieres, and center pieces, and pretty much everything else I nearly fainted. All you crafty peeps out there, I appreciate you, I really do…you can make things and I’ll just take pictures of them, sound good? Great! So there we were, in the middle of corn fields with a beautiful and sweet couple, amazing details, and huge clouds (rained in the morn but cleared up by picture time…made for awesome clouds). See? Heaven.
Holly, my Seattle soulmate, you know how much you mean to me and just how truly blessed I am to have met you and to have been a part of your wedding. And David, what a lovely lady you have found and the way you look at her reminds me just how beautiful finding your “person” and committing to them for the rest of your life can be. You both are a joy and blessing to Rico and I AND we wish you both the very very VERY best in your marriage! xoxoxo

And the bouquet, she made herself out of silk flowers and feathers and other rad items…see, what did I tell ya? Crafty.

being the photographer that she is, she just had to have her own snapshot of the first kiss….

Some more of her fab details, including the cake topper she made.
