Engagement 06.27.2011 DAN eunice

Well well well, here we are again at the start of the week and guess what? I’m not exhausted! Why? Well, because yesterday…..wait for it….a miracle happened…we had the day OFF. WHAAAAT? I know hard to believe but I don’t tend to tell lies so you  can trust me on this one! Rico and I slept in, sat around the house, painted some walls, hung out with some lovely peeps at the Station in South Park (Happy Birthday Austin!), and basically just chilled out the entire day. It was just what we needed too, that’s for sure. Before yesterday our weekend was full of shooting but our clients are amazing so it didn’t feel like work (Tina & Alex, Traci & Erik..we <3 you!). So here I am listening to Bon Iver’s new album and feeling extra inspired…I love today.

In celebration of this inspiration I was thinking we’d share with you a couple that really does it for us in that department. Friends, I have for you Eunice and Dan’s engagement session. This couple is rad. That’s just the simple truth. Oh yeah, and photogenic (don’t deny it Eunice, you know it’s true!), and have excellent taste, AND are probably the NICEST people I’ve ever met. And if they didn’t live all the way over in NYC I’d be bugging them every day to come have mules with me at Starlite to talk about design and photography and financial analyzing (oh wait, probably not that…sorry Dan!). They flew out to San Diego for the weekend and we met up with them in La Jolla to take some pics, then headed over to Starlite to top it off and man, was it heavenly. I know I say this a lot but good images TRULY are a product of the collaboration between us and our couples. We work together and inspire each other, and these two are a prime example. Eunice and Dan, thank you for being some serious rad, for allowing us a peak into your relationship and having complete trust in our vision. We adore you and I meant it when I said I wish we could have many mule nights so next time you’re in SD, it’s a done deal.  xoxo

Oh yeah, and check back with us after their August wedding because it’s going to be epic, what with vendors like Sitting in a Tree Events, The Floral Lab, and DJ Austin Hendrix how could one not be excited? Mmmmmm….so good I can almost taste it. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm…ok enough of me, enjoy the pics!

Engagement 06.20.2011 STEVE dana

And BAM it’s Monday again, just like that…and hello to all you lovers! Did you all have some fun weekending the last two days? Any good father’s day celebrations? Rico and I had a lovely late dinner with the pops last night (fried artichokes…oh yes). It was the perfect end to a fantastic weekend of shooting with some rad peeps…congrats to Jaron and Jen on your beautiful wedding (WE LOVED our thank you CD!). That was Saturday, and then yesterday we stopped of at our fave vegan cafe, Flore Vegan in LA before heading back to SD where we spent some time with two adorable engaged peeps David and Jenn…MUAH! Oh, and we also accomplished our first house project, painting the office! We may not have unpacked even ONE box yet but at least we’re no longer working in a dark brown office (go us!).

And because I know you just LOVE hearing about what’s happening with our crazy schedule, how about we share a little San Fran sesh with you we shot a while back? Sound good? I sure do think so! Today we have the engagement shoot of Dana and Steve to share with you. These two are some serious sweetness AND they were SO patient with me and my crutches (this was the first shoot I did after breaking my foot). We met up in San Fran and spent some time getting to know them and their sweet daughter, and shooting a few pics in one of our fave cities….doesn’t get much better than that now does it? Dana and Steve, you two are a breath of fresh air. Thank YOU for letting us experience a little bit of your relationship and your love for each other, and for putting up with me and my slow going. Your wedding is going to be BEAUTIFUL and your marriage 100x more than that! Enjoy the pics lovebirds!

Wedding 06.13.2011 MIKE mimi

Hey there lovelies! Who survived the weekend?? As I’m sure you assumed, I did! Rico did too…believe me, this is quite the accomplishment when your schedule looks like ours. Lucky for us we have AMAZING clients like Ted and Whitney who were married yesterday, to make our jobs a piece of cake. This weekend was pretty chill for us with a fun session on Saturday followed by drinks in La Jolla with Kristin and Cam and then a CHILL and BEAUTIFUL wedding at Ponte Winery yesterday with Ted and Whitney. We love you folks, yes, indeed we do!

Speaking of folks we love, Mimi and Mike are going to make you swoon today with their amazing Palm Springs wedding. They were married at the Smoke Tree Ranch about a month ago. What is it with Palm Springs? I swear, it’s magical..and that pretty much defines their wedding day as well. This wedding was so special, and I found myself teary eyed several times during the ceremony (that RARELY happens) listening to them express their commitment and love to each other and to their families…it was beautiful and awesome and EXACTLY how it should be…real. These two, I’ve had a crush on them since the morning last July when we met Mimi in a coffee shop in Newport. She is beautiful to the core and her energy is contagious, and you seriously CANNOT be anything but thrilled when around her; a real genuine and lovely person inside and out (which I’m sure you’ll see even just looking at the pics!). Then I met Mike the morning of their wedding and he sealed the deal; he’s just as much a keeper as her with his care for those around him and the fact that every sentence that comes out of his mouth is seriously poetic (he’s a writer, on one of my fave tv shows too!). I am not surprised ONE BIT that these two found each other, and I could gush about them all day, but I’ll leave you to the pics, they are all the gushing you need. Before I go though, Mike and Mimi, being a part of your wedding truly made my year. I couldn’t have asked for better people to work with and to be inspired by. Rico and I love love LOVE working with fellow artists who inspire us, and you certainly do just that. Not only though in your creativity but also in your love…it’s real, it’s beautiful, and it’s inspiring. Thank you for that, it’s such a gift to us. We wish you the very best in your new marriage and we look forward to seeing you again soon…very soon!

And I never share feedback from clients on the blog because I’m not a big fan of tooting my own horn, however, I LOVED the feedback email Mimi forwarded from Mike after the wedding SO MUCH that I couldn’t resist. (We had the extreme pleasure of working with Aqua Vivus at this wedding, and his feedback was directed to both teams). “Can you forward this to our amazing team of intrepid photographers, videographers, and vampire diaries fans?  I can’t believe these people exist in real life.  When you first showed me their work, I figured they were all some kind of elite team of Euro-hippster artists, maybe mid-40s, probably labored for years under the tutelage of Kubrick or Annie Leibovitz or I don’t even know who. And then I met these young sweethearts and I was like, hello?  These kids are the same age as my students.  And yet they do the kind of work I’ve seen taught in classes.   Wow.  So amazing. I love you for finding them!” Seriously? Mike, you rock, AND say hello to Damon for me, you do know I adore him! Muah to you both!
