Personal,Video 10.22.2010 this is CHARLOTTE king

Well hi there my Friday friends! Oh boy, have I got a treat for you or WHAT? Today I don’t have any stills to show you but I have a film instead. Yep, taking a small step off the path of our normal photography posts to show you something that we are pretty excited about. We have these two amazing clients, Jeff and Melissa, who we met when they hired us to shoot their wedding last July and who we’ve remained friends ever since. Jeff is an independent filmmaker here in San Diego and since Rico has a knack for the camera, he’s helped him out on a few of his projects. One of those projects was a short film they made here in San Diego called “This is Charlotte King.” Jeff was the man behind the movie and Rico helped with the filming along with our favorite friend Tom. That film was entered in the San Diego Film Festival and ended up winning Best San Diego Film. So I’m making today bragging Friday, hmmm…bragging sounds bad, how about proud that my clients and my husband AND my fave wedding videographer all created a RAD film that won a doubly rad award Friday. Yes, that’s what we will call today. And you know what else? You should watch it. Why? Because it’s the best San Diego Film, that’s why! Well, and Rico helped film it and we all know how much we love Rico and his ability to film in a hot air balloon. SO with that, I leave you Charlotte King……

Personal,Travel 09.22.2010 SEATTLE

Today is Wednesday and despite the fact that I was up LATE last night editing, I find myself in a pretty good mood today. Why? Well, Rico and I are going to see Muse live tonight at SDSU….this is a concert that I have been waiting to attend for YEARS. And to top it off, one of our favorite friends (and our website creating/hosting genius) James is coming too! Oh man, maybe I should just take the whole day off and go get a margarita to celebrate RIGHT NOW. hmmmmmm……or I’ll post a blog just as celebratory if you ask me, especially when blogging about vacation. I know, a few of you who know us probably thought that word didn’t exist in our world but it’s true, we are known to take a vacation here and there (even if just a couple of days). Well, last week we shot the LOVELY wedding of Ellen and Richard at Wallace Falls Lodge just outside of Seattle, and we decided to stay for a few days in the city afterwards. Seriously LOVE that city….I felt like I was home. So we ate A LOT of mind blowing vegan food HERE and HERE and HERE (oh to live in a vegan friendly city), walked  A LOT, slept in every day and THOROUGHLY ignored my inbox (which meant trouble this last week, but still worth it). We stayed at the Ace Hotel and The Hotel Sorrento (thanks Erica! xoxox) where we didn’t make the bed AT ALL, not that that’s different from normal life but still. Oh yes, then we took many many many pictures. So, for a little mid week treat I thought I’d share some pics from our little vacation in hipster land and encourage you all to get to Seattle….you won’t regret it, and quite possibly may never leave.

We LOVED the Ace Hotel, sooooo…we took pictures.

Dinner at Sutra and Cafe Flora…orgasm for our taste buds AND my camera.

Personal,Studio news,Travel 03.25.2010 LAKE tahoe

“in december drinking horchata…..” OK, make that in March drinking margaritas BUT I’m listening to that song right now and it totally made me feel like posting today. Thank you Vampire Weekend! ANYWAY, yes, a Thursday post was in order this week since I know you’re all DYING to see pictures of our trip to Tahoe where we shot the wedding of Candice & Darren (see the post directly below this one).  The wedding was on Saturday so we decided to go up a little early to have some time to hang out in Tahoe since I’d never been there before. It was BEAUTIFUL up there, which was good because I definitely didn’t pack for really cold weather (it’s the San Diegan in me). While we were there we walked around Tahoe City, took some pictures at the lake, stared at people (I have a problem), AND found a top notch Mexican place with some of the best margaritas I’ve had in a long time and those of you who know me know how picky I am when it comes to my margaritas. Thank you Blue Agave for making our trip just a little more pleasant and for investing in the Vita-mix blender because that seriously makes a world of difference. Oh vita-mix, sigh. SOOOO, it was such a blessing to spend some time with my dear friend Carleigh who drove from San Fran and met us in Tahoe (thanks for letting us stay in  your cabin oxoxoxo). I wish we lived closer!!! Alright, so with that I leave you with some pictures of our trip, FYI no fancy dresses, or pro hair and makeup here, so enjoy my wind blown not enough sleep look…keeping it real right??? MUAH!

And a little bit of news to keep you all in the know. As I announced a while ago, our 2010 dates were full for wedding bookings, but we have decided to open up to doing one or two more (we love weddings, what can I say?). SOOOO, if you know anyone getting married this year still needing a photog, we have limited availability BUT send them our way anyway. We have many spots open for 2011 as well and July is filling up fast so get on that advance planning head start….never hurts to book early while we’re still offering our 2010 rates as well (wink wink). Ok ok, NOW for the pictures.

Oh Rico, you’re soooooo tall! (ok, or the snow was really deep…ssshhhhh)

As you know, when it comes to margs we don’t mess around.
