Hello there all my Monday friends! I hope when you read this that it helps brighten the start of the week. It’s actually Sunday night when I’m writing this because tomorrow we will be in Vegaaaaas! Yep, time for a little vacation and some letting loose. We will be attending the annual WPPI conference with pretty much every photographer around and it’s going to be good times for sure. So, that being said, if you email/call me this week I am officially out of the office so I might be a little delayed in my responses. No worries though, come Thursday I’ll be sending you so many emails you won’t know what to do with yourself. In hopes to make it up to you for going away all week, I wanted to share an EXTRA special post with you today. This is the engagement session of Nick and Tiffany. They booked us a couple of weeks ago for their March 13th wedding so we quickly scheduled their engagement session in Julian for last weekend. I hadn’t been to Julian in YEARS so it was great to meet up, eat some pie (OMG the pie…amazing), and cruise around like we were in the midwest (Julian reminds me SO MUCH of Idaho where I was raised). These two were naturals with the camera and willing to try anything we threw at them (walking through wet fields in their fabulous shoes). And the evidence that they completely and absolutely ROCKED it is below. Really, they are fabulous and I will be drinking a margarita in their honor while in Vegas. Nick and Tiffany, you are amazing and perfect for each other, and I CANNOT wait for your wedding this coming Saturday…it will be the perfect end to a perfect week.

And here we are again at the start of another week. Quite the weekend we had with three engagement shoots (one that was in the POURING rain). All three shoots were a blast though and our clients were troopers with the rain and wet here in San Diego. I really do love rain though, I love how green everything is afterwards…beautiful. Speaking of green, a week or so ago we shot the engagement session of Chris and Vanessa in San Luis Obispo which is like the land of green (not even kidding, proof below). Rico and I love going to SLO, it’s where we went to school so we have fond memories (and bffs) there and it also always makes me feel like I’m in tuscany because of all the rolling hills and vineyards. We met up with this sweet couple in downtown SLO and after a trip to BooBoos and the used book store we headed out to the hills, and some fabulous hills they were indeed! Vanessa and Chris were ADORABLE and never got sick of our constant singing and movie quoting (all Rico there). We had a hard time ending the shoot because of the good times but finally the sun had the final say (we fought hard though, Chris even brought along his vintage lantern he found on ebay). Ok, I could go on and on about this couple because, just look at them, they’re adorable! However, I’ll let you get to the pictures. Chris and Vanessa we think you’re fabulous and we can’t wait for your wedding in San Luis Obispo in May! The hills will be even GREENER then…good thing that’s my favorite color! Muah!

Thursday! I don’t really know why, but I certainly love Thursdays! Maybe has something to do with the end of the week and all the coming weekend shoots we have to look forward to, especially this weekend. I thought that today I’d change things up a bit and share with you a maternity shoot we did recently. We don’t do maternity pictures very often, but Emily and Brett are great friends and fellow photogs and we were honored to capture such a beautiful time in their lives. Maternity pictures are so fun and totally different than our normal shoots (don’t normally focus on any growing bellies when shooting weddings and engagements). So it was fun to branch out and practice our maternity shooting muscles and have a blast experimenting with the Faulknors. Seriously, we love you two and can’t wait to meet baby North VERY SOON! Enjoy!

Is it really Monday again? I swear these weeks go by so quickly. I was just thinking about one of our clients the other day and about how their first anniversary is coming up and I was amazed at how quickly time moves by. Ok, I won’t launch into a philosophical discussion on the illusiveness of time because I know you’re all here for some pictures! And boy do I have some good ones to show you today. A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of shooting the engagement session of Aimee and Tim. It was the Saturday before the Super Bowl and if any of you live in San Diego, you might remember some pretty dark weather around that time. I was getting a little nervous checking the forecast, but turned out that these two were all in for shooting in the rain, and actually excited about it (which made me jump for joy because rain makes for some pretty sweet pictures). Since, Aimee and Tim live in University Heights and it’s a big part of their relationship, we decided to start the shoot there. After cruising the streets of their neighborhood and spending some time playing Mario Brothers (the original of course!) we headed out to Sunset Cliffs where they decided to drop the umbrellas and go all in (I seriously almost kissed them, but that would just be awkward…self control maintained). OK ok, you get the point, the shoot was fab and this couple is adorable. Aimee and Tim, if I could get away with it I would be knocking on your door to hang out every day (no worries, I’ll settle for gchat)…you’re so great and I can’t wait for your wedding in June. We are going to rock that Thursday Club like no one before, I can promise you that!

KRISTEN {snow}

Hello there all you three day weekenders! We kept ourselves busy with several shoots over the weekend, one being the sweet wedding at Paradise Point in San Diego that I shared in the last post. I wanted to start out the week on this fabulous Tuesday with a shoot that we did on Friday. I have for you the lovely Kristen and her trash the dress session. She is a wilderness girl at heart, so we decided to hunt for some snow and we got there just in time! It was a little cold but she was a trooper and rocked it, although not hard to rock it when you’re as hot as her…she was melting the snow for sure (yes yes, I know, I just couldn’t help myself)! Seriously though, it was such a treat to do this shoot with Kristen (one of my dearest friends) and to have a little different setting than we typically see in San Diego (sunny all the time). Alright, I hear some lunch calling my name so I’ll leave you with the pictures….always better than my words anyway! Enjoy my friends!

oh, and also a quick request. One of my couples is having a slight venue emergency. Their venue is canceling on them for their May wedding (and all the other weddings that were booked there) so they have an urgent need to find a replacement venue ASAP. I know you’re all pros out there and if you have any venue recommendations that are a bit off the beaten path in the San Diego area, please post it in the comments. Thanks you so much for your help and we love you all!!!

Happy Thursday my fine friends! I’m going to make this short because I already gave you the low down on this adorable couple last week. However, with their wedding coming up this Sunday I couldn’t resist sharing their e.MOTION video with you…LOVE IT. So, I’ll leave you to the awesomeness that is Jenny and David while I count down the hours until their wedding (78 hours to go)!

Monday Monday Monday! A bad word for many people, including myself most of the time…not today though, no way. Why? Well I’ve had two lattes already today and I was able to get some sleep last night (not the norm) so I’m feeling refreshed and ready to start the week. PLUS the weekend was awesome with a fun engagement session in the rain. Rain is becoming one of my new favorite things for shooting. ANYWAY, on to the post. Today I’m sharing with you the engagement session of Cici and John and let me warn you…they.are.amazing. We spent a few hours in Poway with this couple last month for their engagement session and we had such a great time. They are adorable, fun to be with, and have FABULOUS style (hello red shoes from my favorite store). Plus we brought the yellow chair and that always means good times if you ask me. The light was beautiful, the day was beautiful, and the couple was beautiful. Cici and John, you’re amazing and I can’t wait for your San Diego wedding in October!

Today marks my 27th year of life, and I’m seriously not much of a birthday person BUT since I know you were up ALL NIGHT LONG trying to decide what gift to get me, let me help out by saying the only gift I need is a comment on the blog (or two). If you are a reader of this blog and have never commented (I know you’re out there!) then what better day than this to reveal yourself right? Come on, it’s my birthday wish AND it will make my day. Oh Monday, dreaded Monday….why must you always leave me feeling so tired? These blog posts are what keep me going…and you thought I posted these for you? Purely selfish my friends. KIDDING! You know I love you! I am pretty tired today, a good tired of course because we had a fabulous weekend of weddings, shoots, and client meetings (2 more spots for 2010 open!). PLUS we got to pay a visit to my adorable little 3 month old niece, Addy, whose cheeks I consider to be one of God’s best creations (quite kissable….referring to the cheeks on her face of course you silly people!).

I have an extra special wedding post to share with you all today. Tyler and Emily are probably one of my favorite couples. We met them through my best friend/roomie from college and have grown to be very good friends of ours. We met them for the first time in San Francisco for their engagement session a year ago and immediately hit it off. They are so easy and fun to be around and not to mention generous (Emily has picked us up from the airport numerous times and let us stay at their place in the city). I was seriously dying for their wedding date to arrive at the end of 2009. Well arrive it did and it was AMAZING! They had a beach/country themed wedding because Emily is from California and Tyler is from Montana….the perfect combo because it was perfectly them. The ceremony was the beach aspect and couldn’t have taken place in a more fitting place than Carmel, it was lovely and the light had me doing backflips (ok, maybe not literally…but if I could do a backflip I would have done 20, the light was that good). After the ceremony we headed over to the country themed reception complete with personalized belt buckles and beer mugs in the shape of cowboy boots as favors. All you out there who consider your group of friends to be a little on the wild side, I think Emily and Chappy (Tyler’s “real” name) may give you a run for your money because this party DID NOT STOP for hours! It was intense, in a awesome get your crazy dance (and drink) on kind of a way. Pretty sure I slept until 1pm the next day, yes, it was that awesome. Ok, so I could go on about this wedding and how much I love this couple and how much they mean to me, but I’ll save that for the next time I visit them. However, I just want to say…Emily and Chappy, I feel honored and blessed to have met you and to have been a part of your wedding day. I look forward to your friendship and to watching your marriage grow…we adore you!

Hey there internet friends! We just thought we’d post a little something to start your weekend off right (happy Friday btw…who doesn’t love Fridays right?). This past week Rico had the opportunity to attend the Ultramegeddon workshop with Mr. Roboto himself, Jeff Newsom. Jeff has always been an inspiration to us in our photography so it was awesome to be able to meet with him and learn from him. Well, you can’t get a bunch of photogs together without doing a shoot, so I just wanted to share some of the visual goodness that Rico shot while at the workshop.
